4.92

先從明昧搖動有風輪，風搖明立有金寶，金風相摩生火性，火蒸金潤有水生，水火相交，勢有勝劣，水勝火劣為海洲，火勝水劣為山石，土劣水勝為草木等。外相雖爾，皆由內心；內心無變，外豈差別？經且約外，故云遞相為種。

First, from brightness, obscurity, and motion, there is the wind wheel; with wind moving and brightness standing firm, there are precious metals; metal and wind rubbing together generate the nature of fire; fire steaming the moisture of metal gives rise to water; water and fire interacting have superior and inferior forces: water prevailing and fire being inferior forms oceans and continents, fire prevailing and water being inferior forms mountains and rocks, earth being inferior and water prevailing forms grasses and trees, and so forth. Although the external marks are like this, all are due to the internal mind; if there were no alteration in the internal mind, how could there be distinction externally? The sūtra temporarily speaks in terms of the external; hence it is said, "mutually serving as seeds for one another."
