In full it is said *vaiḍūrya*; here it is translated as 'gem of the distant mountain'. Through contemplating how one's own mind is turned by the power of wind, when the contemplation succeeded and its function was obtained, his body and mind became thoroughly clear and transparent like that beryl (vaiḍūrya); hence he was named after it. The buddha whom he met was named Immeasurable Sound, which was also named from contemplating wind. Revealing original awakening and contemplating wind: wind is the characteristic of movement; since it belongs to delusion, originally there is no movement. The absence of movement is precisely original awakening. Therefore, wishing to reveal non-movement, he contemplated movement.
