This reveals that one can swiftly reach great awakening, so that when a single thought does not arise, one is named a Buddha. This surpasses the explanations of stages and eons; as the text stated earlier, "Ceasing is bodhi," and the Perfect Enlightenment Sūtra also says: "Free of illusion is awakening; there are no gradual steps." All share this meaning. Yet when one reaches awakening, there is also no fruit of one's own that can be attained; hence it says "transcends no-more-learning." It is also spoken of as "transcending" by way of comparing speed and slowness, not that one literally skips stages straight to unexcelled awakening.
