The cloth symbolizes the true nature; the knots symbolize the six faculties. Asking about each tie in turn, their characteristics are distinguished through delusion, so that one may know that the source is one, while false knots give rise to six, and within what has neither sameness nor difference, difference blazes forth; hence each tie is called a knot.
