The youth Candrabhāga, through the water contemplation, saw that the water in his body and the external scented water merged in nature with true emptiness, flowing with one flavor, and attained the forbearance of non-arising dharmas. Here it means: this contemplation does not depart from vitarka, vicāra, samjñā, and thought; how could it be the real nature of thusness? 'Discursive contemplation' (jueguan) refers to vitarka and vicāra.
