Bodhisattva Mahāsthāmaprāpta, by means of the samādhi of mindfulness of the Buddha, gathered in all six faculties so that pure mindfulness continued uninterrupted, entering the forbearance of non-arising dharmas. Now it is said that whatever is conditioned belongs to the flux of the aggregate of formations, and the arising and ceasing of the nature of mindfulness is precisely impermanence. How can an impermanent cause obtain a permanently abiding result? Hence it is not perfect penetration. However, the gate of mindfulness of the Buddha is the most essential for this realm: although it is said to arise and cease, its key lies in concentrating mindfulness within the heart, combined with the power of the Buddha's vows, so that one is directly born in the Pure Land. Having been born in that land, one's progress is ever swifter, and realization is certain within a set time. Here, to reveal the perfect faculty, Avalokiteśvara is supreme; according to the method of depreciation and exaltation, it must therefore be set aside.
