6.340

此諸眾生，根劣也。去佛漸遠，時劣也。邪師說法，難多也。此則時澆解昧，惑障尤多，修定攝心難為進趣，況遭魔惑，邪見彌增，加行修證如何無退？

"These sentient beings" means their capacities are inferior. "Increasingly distant from the Buddha" means the time is degenerate. "False teachers explaining the Dharma" means difficulties are numerous. Thus the time is corrupt and understanding is obscure, with afflictive obstacles being especially abundant; in cultivating concentration and collecting the mind, it is difficult to advance, and moreover encountering demonic bewilderment, false views multiply; in the practice and realization of the preliminary applications, how could they be free of regression?
