魔不斷婬而修禪定，魔定順惑，易得成就，功深者為上品，功淺者為中下。雖不斷欲而修定、修福，隨福優劣故成三品，以邪定力報得五通，以有漏福生天魔界。隨得少定，不辨邪正，各各自謂成無上道。

Demons cultivate dhyāna-concentration without severing lust; demonic concentration accords with affliction and is easy to accomplish. Those whose attainment is deep belong to the superior grade, while those whose attainment is shallow belong to the middle and inferior grades. Though not severing desire, they cultivate concentration and cultivate merit; according to the superiority or inferiority of their merit, they become the three grades. Through the power of false concentration, they obtain the five superknowledges by retribution; through merit with outflows, they are born into the realm of the heavenly demons. Gaining a little concentration, they do not distinguish heterodoxy from orthodoxy, and each claims to have achieved the unsurpassed Way.
