6.375

「汝修三昧，本出塵勞，殺心不除，塵不可出。縱有多智禪定現前，如不斷殺，必落神道。上品之人為大力鬼，中品則為飛行夜叉、諸鬼帥等，下品當為地行羅剎。彼諸鬼神亦有徒眾，各各自謂成無上道。」

"Your cultivation of samādhi originally aimed to escape dust and toil; if the mind of killing is not eliminated, the dust cannot be escaped. Even if one has much wisdom and dhyāna-concentration manifests before one, if one does not sever killing, one will surely fall into the way of spirits: superior people become powerful ghosts, the middle grade becomes flying yakṣas, ghost commanders, and the like, and the inferior grade becomes earth-bound rākṣasas. Those ghosts and spirits also have followers, and each claims that they have attained the unsurpassed Way."
