「阿難！我令比丘食五淨肉，此肉皆我神力化生，本無命根。汝婆羅門地多蒸濕，加以砂石，草菜不生。我以大悲神力所加，因大慈悲假名為肉，汝得其味。奈何如來滅度之後，食眾生肉名為釋子。」

"Ānanda! I permitted the monks to eat the five kinds of pure meat, but this meat was entirely created by transformation through my supernormal power; inherently it had no life-root. In your Brahman land the ground is mostly damp and humid, and in addition there are sand and stones, so grass and vegetables do not grow. I reinforced it with the supernormal power of great compassion, provisionally calling it meat by reason of great loving-kindness and compassion, so that you obtained its taste. How is it that after the Tathāgata's extinction, those who eat the flesh of living beings are called disciples of the Śākya?"
