Fourth. Boundlessly extensive, so it is 'great'; upholding the true Dharma in itself, so it is 'correct'; conforming to the essence and pervasive, so it is 'vast'—namely, the meaning of the three greats. 'Wondrous' means inconceivable. 'Lotus flower' is an analogy for disclosing the Buddha's knowledge and vision, emerging from the affliction hindrance and the knowledge hindrance to see the Buddha-nature, like [a lotus] emerging from the water and blossoming. Furthermore, able to be sovereign in phenomena and the chief of all samādhis, it is thus called 'king.' Generating all Buddhas, it is thus called 'mother.' Upholding the good, preventing evil, and gathering all merits, it is called 'dhāraṇī.' 'Mantra' (zhou) means incantation. This establishes the name in terms of manifest benefits.
