8.338

此想多中仍兼善願也。雖不持戒，且有定願，護持戒呪及禪定者，斯則由宿習故毀禁，知過故發願，亦是乘急戒緩者，故能於八部身而見佛耳。

This refers to those who have much thought yet still combine it with good vows. Although they did not uphold the precepts, because they possess absorption and vows, and protect precepts, mantras, and dhyāna-absorption, they violate prohibitions due to past habits, yet give rise to vows upon recognizing their faults. These are also cases of being urgent in the vehicle but lax in the precepts; therefore, they can see the Buddha in the form of beings belonging to the eight classes.
