由乎情想妄集諸業，隨業善惡或升或墜，故云自業所感。十習因者，別指惡業，即由十使煩惱於六根門發識造業，洎受其報。從六根出，報與業交，故云交報。同受地獄即引業招，六根別受即滿業致，俱是眾生妄情習造耳。

Because emotion and thought falsely accumulate various karmas, one ascends or sinks according to whether the karma is good or evil; thus it says 'brought on by personal karma'. The 'ten habitual causes' specifically refer to evil karma, which originates from the ten defiling afflictions generating consciousness and creating karma at the gates of the six sense faculties, leading to receiving retribution. Emanating from the six faculties, retribution and karma interact; hence they are called 'interacting retributions'. Undergoing hell together is brought about by impelling karma; the individual undergoing through the six faculties is caused by fulfilling karma. Both are fabricated by the habitual tendencies of the false emotions of sentient beings.
