宿因誑習，鬼為魘暗，幽默既消，畜為服類，即馳驢、牛馬、蠶繭之類，為人服用也。綿即綿密，不明露也。

Its past cause was the habit of dishonesty; as a ghost it was nightmare darkness. When the obscurity dissolves, as an animal it becomes a kind used for clothing or service—that is, swift donkeys, oxen, horses, silkworms, and the like, to be used and worn by humans. 'Mián' means dense and continuous, not openly exposed.
