'Exceeding the amount' means going beyond measure, not keeping to one's proper bound and transgressing it—namely, unjust and grueling labor without regard for light or heavy, or working day and night without rest, or consuming and devouring without limit. All such kinds ought to conversely demand back the excess. Nowadays there are those who rely on high status to be willful, lean on wealth and power to be extravagant, crave others' labor and overwork them, or seek their taste and unjustly slaughter them, ceaseless from morning to night, heedless of their toil. When their blessings are exhausted, the excess is demanded back—how fitting it is!
