此料揀也。魔與諸天皆修禪定，故得五通。凡夫煩惱一未曾伏，故云昏暗。彼諸魔王、欲界之主，統此國土以為所居，總攝有情以為民眾。故得道者必出魔界，共感國土必傾搖耳。

This is distinguishing and selecting. Māras and the devas all cultivate dhyāna-concentration, and therefore obtain the five penetrations. The afflictions of ordinary beings have never once been subdued, hence they are called benighted. Those māra kings, lords of the desire realm, rule over these lands as their dwellings and gather all sentient beings as their subjects. Therefore, one who attains the Way will necessarily transcend the realm of māras, and the lands produced by collective karma will inevitably be shaken.
