問：此不作五陰次第觀門，何得陰次第盡，明其境耶？答：觀雖總相，五陰同觀。陰有麁細，麁者先盡。譬如浣衣，麁垢先去。此陰既積妄所成，妄盡自然陰滅，從麁至細，理必然也。

Question: Here, one is not practicing contemplation through the sequence of the five aggregates; why is it that the aggregates end in sequence to explain their states? Answer: Although the contemplation is of the general characteristic, the five aggregates are contemplated together. Aggregates have gross and subtle aspects; the gross ones are exhausted first. It is like washing clothes: the coarse dirt is removed first. Since this aggregate is formed from accumulated delusion, when delusion is exhausted, the aggregate naturally ceases; from gross to subtle, this is necessarily the principle.
