9.291

自謂滿足更不求進者，良以不學修禪次第，不善通達禪支行相，暫得輕安，便謂成聖也。無聞比丘觸處皆有，世世輪轉，熏識成因，以類相從，卒難曉悟。

Those who claim satisfaction for themselves and seek no further progress do so precisely because they do not study the sequence of cultivating dhyāna and do not skillfully penetrate the characteristics of the dhyāna limbs; temporarily obtaining pliancy, they immediately claim to have become sages. Unlearned monks are everywhere, transmigrating life after life, perfuming their consciousness to form causes; being grouped by their kind, it is exceedingly difficult to awaken them.
