10.26

"Second, this person sees that the outcome lacks a cause. Why is this? Since this person has seen their roots in life, he knows that humans give birth to humans and realizes that birds give birth to birds; that crows have always been black and swans have always been white; that humans and gods have always stood upright and animals have always walked horizontally; that whiteness is not made by washing, nor blackness created by dyeing; and that through eighty thousand eons there has been no further alteration, and so it will be until the end of this physical form. 'Yet I originally have not seen bodhi; how could there ever be the achievement of bodhi? You should know that today all phenomena originally lack a cause.'"
