The arising and ceasing of avidyā, in ceaseless contrast and opposition, is why it says, "Due to emptiness, motion arises." Grasping and clinging to what is brightened, holding fast without letting go, is why it says, "solidifying brightness establishes obstruction." Internally, it is the solid grasping of the bright awakening; externally, it constitutes the subsequent arising of the metal wheel; hence it is said, "Those precious metals are established in solidity by the bright awakening." Thus we know that the nature of precious metals exists because of the bright awakening; therefore, all precious substances have solidity as their substance and brightness as their function.
