Although their bodies have left home, their minds do not enter the Path. Assuming the robes to put on appearances and peddling the Tathāgata to create karma, they conversely defame those with the complete precepts as provisional and lesser, while elevating and displaying aberrant deportment as ultimate, deceiving and misleading the foolish so that they enter into endless evil. The 'Chapter on Heterodoxy and Orthodoxy' of the Nirvāṇa [Sūtra] says: 'After my extinction, Māra Pāpīyān will gradually ruin and disrupt my correct Dharma, even assuming the appearance of monks, nuns, arhats, and the like. With defiled bodies they claim to be undefiled, disrupting my correct Dharma, even saying: There are no four pārājikas, saṅghāvaśeṣas, aniyatas, naiḥsargika-prāyaścittikas, prātideśanīyas, śaikṣas, adhikaraṇa-śamathas, or other dharmas, nor are there sins of sthūlātyaya, five heinous deeds, or icchantika, and even that committing such sins brings no retribution.' All such statements are the speech of Māra. In my Buddha Dharma, those who commit the above sins should be severely punished. If one does not uphold the precepts, how could one ever see the Buddha-nature?
