"In the center of the altar, place a lotus flower made of gold, silver, copper, or wood. In the flower, set an alms bowl, in which you first collect eighth-month dew water, and into the water place whatever flower petals you wish. Take eight round mirrors and place each in its respective direction surrounding the flower-bowl. Outside the mirrors, erect sixteen lotus flowers, with sixteen incense burners arranged alternating with the flowers. Adorn the incense burners, burning pure agarwood without letting the fire be visible. Take white cow's milk and put it into sixteen vessels; make fried cakes with milk, together with various granulated sugars, oil cakes, milk porridge, storax, honeyed ginger, pure ghee, and pure honey, surrounding outside the lotus flowers in sets of sixteen each, to present to the buddhas and great bodhisattvas."
