Dhyāna contemplation becomes increasingly superior, and rebirth is fine and subtle, hence it is said, "body and mind are wonderfully perfected." Furthermore, being endowed with the virtue of precepts, it is said, "deportment is complete and unfailing." This concludes what precedes. From "pure" downward, it directly clarifies that [the beings of] this heaven bring forth wisdom and luminous awakening within meditative absorption and precepts. Their wisdom and understanding surpass others, enabling them to be Brahmā lords governing the Brahmā retinue. According to the *Kośa*: "Possessing majesty, virtue, and radiance, he dwells alone, incurred by the power of meditative absorption with investigation only and without vitarka, whereas the lower two heavens have both vitarka and vicāra. Furthermore, at the end of an eon he is the last to depart, and at the formation of an eon he is the first to arrive; non-Buddhists, unable to fathom this, cling to him as permanent. Moreover, because giving rise to a thought he saw devas being born, he clung to being the sole causal creator able to give birth to the world."
