From "as the Viśeṣacintā[-brahma-paripṛcchā-sūtra]" downward clarifies the remaining five pāramitās in terms of the eye faculty. One should discuss the four teachings for each; within this, the broad and concise treatments differ: forbearance and vigor fully possess the four, dhyāna is divided into the lesser and greater, and although the two pāramitās of morality and wisdom are explained directly, their meaning also includes the four. "Not harmed by the six sense objects": now in terms of the eye faculty, it should say "not harmed by the sense object of form"; saying "six" is a generalized mention. When ordinary beings cling to form, they are harmed by it, lacking the meaning of preventing wrongdoing. The Tripiṭaka [teaching] understands form as impermanent; the shared understands it as identical to emptiness; the distinct understands it as provisional designation; the perfect understands it as the middle way; in their respective spheres, the four teachings are all unharmed.
