2.62

經「日藏」者，中道正觀如日，具足諸法名藏。「眾賢位極」者，等覺名賢，讓極果為聖也。「佛是聖首」等者，四十二位俱名為聖，妙覺為其上首，居聖人之極。

The sūtra says "Sūryagarbha" (Sun Treasury): the right contemplation of the middle way is like the sun; completely possessing all dharmas is named the treasury. "The pinnacle among the manifold worthies": equal enlightenment is named worthy, deferring the ultimate fruit to the sages. "The Buddha is the head of the sages," and so forth: the forty-two stages are all named sages; wonderful enlightenment is their head, dwelling at the summit of the sages.
