From "It may also" below, it treats illness entering from outside. For instance, prolonged looking or prolonged listening, and even food and drink, all result in illness. Fully discussed: external entry is merely the condition for the illness, entering and injuring the five viscera. Once the five viscera are diseased, they externally correspond to the five sense faculties, and the five faculties also become diseased. "Yakṣa": recently translated as yaoxiu, translated here as "brave and robust," able to fly and soar in the air. Formerly translated as "swift spirit." "Causing the people of the state to suffer from illness and affliction": this is the spirits serving as the condition for the illness. Because the vapor of the spirits externally assails the five sense faculties and enters to injure the five viscera, the five viscera become diseased, which in turn corresponds to the five faculties.
