The sūtra's "whirling waves": the Sancang states, "Hui means water revolving." The sūtra's "mountains of water-color": terrifying waves like mountains. "Failing to grasp principle": because principle is not within the four propositions, it cannot be grasped. From "Therefore dharmatā" onward is text from the Mahāparinirvāṇa Sūtra. Arising fixed attachment toward the four makes them poison; penetrating the four as free from the four makes them amṛta. Because they are poison, one dies young; because it is amṛta, one prolongs life. Swords and blades inflict injury and destruction; hence they represent impermanence. Where the note says "and so on," when applied to the ten kinds of practitioners, it means that both kinds of the three realms are shifted by impermanence, and even one portion of equal enlightenment is also impermanent.
