4.33

「是身出火」者，即經云「身中出火」也。「但有無漏火」者，慧人但修無漏觀斷惑，不修觀練等禪，故無神通，不能化火焚身也。「備有事理火」者，用無漏觀斷惑，是理火；修事禪發神通，能化火焚身，是事火。「子縛」，即煩惱因。「果縛」，即若依身，以能化火，故燒果縛。

As for 'fire emerging from this body', this corresponds to the sūtra's 'fire emerging from within the body'. As for 'merely possessing the fire of the undefiled', those with wisdom merely cultivate the contemplation of the undefiled to sever delusion, and do not cultivate concentrations such as the contemplations and refining [dhyānas]; hence they lack supernormal powers and cannot manifest fire to burn the body. As for 'fully possessing both phenomenal and noumenal fire', using undefiled contemplation to sever delusion is noumenal fire; cultivating phenomenal dhyāna to develop supernormal powers and manifest fire to burn the body is phenomenal fire. 'Seed binding' refers to the cause, which is affliction. 'Fruit binding' refers to the retribution body; because one can manifest fire, one burns the fruit binding.
