From "worldly wisdom" downward rebukes ordinary beings. Because ordinary beings and non-Buddhists all possess this wisdom, which does not transcend birth-and-death and does not shake afflictions, it is said to be the wisdom of the mundane world. "Merely having a name": Because this worldly wisdom is deceptive and unreal, it has only the name of wisdom but lacks its substance. Hence earlier it was said: "It is also called nominal wisdom." "Commonly used by ordinary beings and noble ones": This means ordinary beings use this wisdom to attain the four dhyānas and eight concentrations. There are two different kinds of noble ones: those liberated through wisdom use only undefiled wisdom to accomplish the state of non-learning; those doubly liberated use both wisdoms, and at the time of severing delusion, they use either wisdom as appropriate. Therefore it is said to be commonly used by ordinary beings and noble ones. Because this wisdom is equally possessed by ordinary beings and noble ones, earlier it was said: "It is also called equal wisdom."
