Regarding "expressing the capacity through the three karmas": throwing the five limbs to the ground and so forth is bodily karma; fixing mindfulness and so forth is mental karma; and invoking that Buddha is vocal karma. Regarding "without wounds" and so forth: chuang (wound) is identical to chuang (sore). The Book of Rites says, "If there is a wound on the head, one washes the hair"; the character is written this way in all such cases. The Mahāparinirvāṇa Sūtra says, "Just as when a person's hand has a sore and holds poison, the poison enters following it; if there is no sore, the poison will not enter. The sore is the causal condition of bodhi, and the poison is the supreme wondrous medicine."
