From "inherently pure" onward, it explains the meaning of "hypothetical." "Inherently pure" and so forth: non-defiled yet defiled, which is why it says "fundamentally absent, now arising." "All are unreal and provisional": being deluded about principle, one gives rise to karma, but karma is never apart from principle. The substance of karma is fundamentally absent, yet when we speak of "karma," it is merely a provisional designation. "The real comes to shatter the unreal": "real" refers to the esoteric teaching of the three virtues; "unreal" refers to evil karma. Now, receiving the teaching and realizing principle, one understands that karma is mind-only, and defilement is itself non-defilement. The essence of the mind is fundamentally unreal, and the characteristics of karma have nowhere to lodge; hence it says "causes all to become pure."
