離見聞者，《僧祇》中：謂同覆處離見聞，其相如室宿中說。此謂離比座見聞，不取說戒師羯磨者見聞也。如《義鈔》說。

Separated beyond sight and hearing: in the Mahāsāṃghika-vinaya, it refers to being under the same roof but separated from sight and hearing, the characteristics of which are as explained in the section on lodging in a room. This refers to separation from the sight and hearing of the adjacent seat, not referring to the sight and hearing of the master of upoṣadha recitation or the karman reciter, as explained in the Yichao.
