初明受衣時者。《四分》云：安居竟，應受功德衣。則前安居人，七月十六日受，至十二月十五日捨。故文云：齊冬四月捨。如是乃至八月十五日，日日亦得受衣。故文云：即日來，不經宿者，謂即得衣日即受，不得經宿等。故《十誦》云：若月一日（猶是七月十六日也）得衣，即日受；若二日、三日、乃至八月十五日亦爾。《五分》：受有三十日，捨亦三十日；彼但得四月利，不同《四分》五月利也。《毘尼母》云：七月十六日應受，若事緣不及，乃至八月十五日，過是不得；捨中亦齊五月滿已，羯磨捨。七月十六日受者，得百五十日利；八月十五日受者，得百二十日利；中間轉降可以比知。《十誦》問：受功德衣已，官作閨月者？隨安居日數取滿也，則不得攝閏。

First, explaining the time of receiving the robe.
The Dharmaguptaka Vinaya states: When varṣā is ended, one should receive the merit robe. Thus, those in the early varṣā receive it on the sixteenth day of the seventh month, and relinquish it on the fifteenth day of the twelfth month. Hence the text states: "relinquishing it by the end of the four months of winter." In this manner, even up to the fifteenth day of the eighth month, one may receive the robe on any day. Hence the text states: "Arriving on that very day and not passing the night" means receiving it on the very day the robe is obtained, not allowing a night to pass, and so forth. Thus the Daśādhyāya-vinaya states: If one obtains the robe on the first day of the month (which is the sixteenth day of the seventh month), one receives it that very day; the same applies to the second day, third day, up to the fifteenth day of the eighth month. In the Pañcavargika-vinaya: receiving has thirty days, and relinquishing also has thirty days; that school only obtains four months of privileges, differing from the Dharmaguptaka Vinaya's five months of privileges. The Vinayamātṛkā states: One should receive it on the sixteenth day of the seventh month; if prevented by circumstances, it may be up to the fifteenth day of the eighth month; beyond this it is not permitted. In relinquishing, it is also relinquished by karman after five full months. Those who receive it on the sixteenth day of the seventh month gain one hundred and fifty days of privileges; those who receive it on the fifteenth day of the eighth month gain one hundred and twenty days of privileges; the gradual reduction in between can be inferred accordingly. The Daśādhyāya-vinaya asks: If after receiving the merit robe, the state adds an intercalary month? One fulfills it according to the number of days of the varṣā; it cannot encompass the intercalary month.
