然一部之文，義張三位。上卷則攝於眾務，成用有儀；中卷則遵於戒體，持犯立懺；下卷則隨機要行，託事而起。並如文具委，想無紊亂；但境事寔繁，良難科擬。今取物類相從者，以標名首；至於統其大綱，恐條流未委，更以十門例括，方鏡曉遠詮。

Now, the text of this entire work has its meaning spread across three parts. The upper scroll gathers the collective duties, providing formal procedures for execution and application; the middle scroll adheres to the precept essence, establishing repentance for observance and transgression; the lower scroll addresses essential practices according to capacity, arising in reliance upon circumstances. All are fully detailed according to the text, and I trust there is no disorder; yet the objective affairs are truly multitudinous, and it is exceedingly difficult to classify them. Now I take those of similar kinds to follow one another, using them to head the chapters; as for unifying the broad principles, fearing that the branches and streams may not be thoroughly detailed, I further summarize them with ten categories, so as to clearly mirror the profound teachings.
