二引證誠報。如《目連問罪報經》云：若比丘、比丘尼，無慚愧心，輕慢佛語，犯突吉羅眾學戒罪；如四天王壽五百歲，墮泥犁中；於人間數九百千歲。第二波羅提提舍尼，如三十三天壽命千歲；於人間數三億六十千歲，墮地獄中。第三波逸提者，如夜摩天壽二千歲；於人間數二十一億四十千歲。第四偷蘭遮，如兜率天壽四千歲；於人間數五十億六十千歲。第五僧伽婆尸沙罪，如不憍樂天壽八千歲；於人間數二百三十億四十千歲。第六犯波羅夷罪，如他化自在天壽十六千歲墮泥犁中；於人間數九百二十一億六十千歲。《涅槃》中：犯突吉羅罪，如忉利天日月歲數八百萬歲，墮地獄中。與上經文不同者，此謂數有大小，即萬萬為億之量也。

Second, citing textual proof for the actual retribution. As the Sūtra of Maudgalyāyana Inquiring About the Retribution for Offenses states: 'If a bhikṣu or bhikṣuṇī, lacking a sense of shame and conscience and treating the Buddha's words with contempt, commits a duṣkṛta offense of the saṃbahulāḥ śikṣā-karaṇīyāḥ, they fall into Avīci for [a span equivalent to] a lifespan of five hundred years in the heaven of the Four Heavenly Kings, which counts in human reckoning as nine hundred thousand years. For the second, prātideśanīya, [the span is] like a lifespan of one thousand years in the Heaven of the Thirty-Three, counting in human reckoning as 3,600,000 years falling into hell. For the third, pāyattika, it is like a lifespan of two thousand years in the Yāma Heaven, counting in human reckoning as 21,400,000 years. For the fourth, sthūlātyaya, it is like a lifespan of four thousand years in the Tuṣita Heaven, counting in human reckoning as 50,600,000 years. For the fifth, a saṃghāvaśeṣa offense, it is like a lifespan of eight thousand years in the Nirmāṇarati Heaven, counting in human reckoning as 230,400,000 years. For the sixth, committing a pārājika offense, they fall into Avīci for [a span] like a lifespan of sixteen thousand years in the Paranirmitavaśavartin Heaven, counting in human reckoning as 921,600,000 years.' In the Nirvāṇa [Sūtra]: 'Committing a duṣkṛta offense entails falling into hell for eight million years according to the count of days, months, and years in the Trāyastriṃśa Heaven.' As for its divergence from the preceding sūtra text, this is because counting systems have larger and smaller scales, that is, taking ten thousand ten-thousands (100,000,000) as one koṭi.
