上來三懺，事既是稀；非謂事稀，罪多懺少故也！然智人犯過，思悔必多；脫隱而不出，即成疎略。文已繁廣，事實遺漏；必若懺滌，足為準量。

The three types of confession above are rare in practice; this is not to say that the matters are rare, but because offenses are many while confessions are few! Yet when a wise person commits an error, their thoughts of repentance must be many; if one inadvertently conceals them and does not bring them forth, one will become negligent. The texts are already vast and extensive, and matters of fact are easily overlooked; but if one must repent and cleanse, these are sufficient to serve as a standard.
