問：羯磨文中非衣者，此何衣耶？答：律不顯相。文云：時有將非衣作鉢囊、革屣囊；佛言，不應作之。又云：與比丘尼非衣。亦不知何等衣也？今但通而述之，無妨彼此俱攝。

Question: In the text of the karman, what kind of robes are meant by 'non-robes'? Answer: The Vinaya does not clearly specify the characteristics. The text states: At that time, some made bowl-bags and leather sandal bags out of non-robes; the Buddha said they should not make them. It also states: Giving non-robes to bhikṣuṇīs. It is also not known what kind of robes they are. Now we merely explain it generally; there is no harm in both sides subsuming them.
