Sixth: whether the two receipts are open or restricted. Physical receipt prevents theft; once one person has received it, it extends to others; verbal receipt is likewise. If considered in terms of naming it according to the specific illness, it strictly speaking would not extend; yet because verbal procedure is applied to a medicine that is already doubly open to others (flavour is open, physical receipt is open), when the previous person relinquishes it, the validity of the receipt is not lost. How is this known? The *Dharmaguptaka Vinaya* states: "Food of the seventh-day medicine is given to the bhikṣus to eat." The rest is as explained in the *Compendium of Meanings* and the *Commentary*.
