養生眾具，殷湊繁多；隨報開聽，事資道立。雖在緣廣被，而法據有準；違則斯制，犯則無赦。既混其體貌，故分其條格；略言來意，別舒如後。

Requisites for sustaining life are dense and manifold; granted and allowed according to karmic reward, these matters sustain the establishment of the Way. Although widely extending across conditions, they are standardly based on the Dharma: if one violates them, there are prohibitions; if one transgresses them, there is no pardon. Since their forms and appearances are mixed together, their clauses and categories are therefore distinguished; having briefly stated the intention behind this, the details are set forth as follows.
