3.390

又以三事，驗三道也：凡夫但自為，二乘自為兼他，大乘唯為於他；此三發意別，故成果亦別。若論緣事，心乖事同。且知大略而已。

Furthermore, one tests the three paths by three things: ordinary persons act solely for themselves, the Two Vehicles act for themselves and also for others, and the Great Vehicle acts purely for others. Because these three differ in their generation of intention, their resulting fruits also differ. If discussing engagement with affairs, their minds diverge while their activities are identical. One should just know the broad outline.
