二作法者，欲出家者，至僧伽藍中，立眼見耳不聞處。作單白和僧，使大眾知聞，為成問答無失，如律中度巧師兒說。羯磨云：「大德僧聽！是某甲，從某甲求剃髮。若僧時到僧忍聽：某甲從某甲剃髮。白如是。」律云：若僧和合者善；不爾者，房房語令知。

Second, the ritual procedure: One who wishes to leave home goes to the saṅghārāma and stands where he can be seen by the eyes but not heard by the ears. One performs a single motion to harmonize the saṃgha, making the great assembly hear and know, in order to successfully conduct the questions and answers without mistake, as stated in the Vinaya regarding the ordination of the artisan's son. The karman states: 'Let the venerable saṃgha listen! This person so-and-so seeks shaving of the hair from so-and-so. If the saṃgha's time has come, let the saṃgha approve and listen: so-and-so has his hair shaved by so-and-so. This is the motion.' The Vinaya says: 'If the saṃgha is harmonious, it is good; if not, go room by room and inform them.'
