The above explains declaring for oneself; now we discuss representing another. That is, after having received chanda, one suddenly encounters an obstacle, and wishes to transfer and grant it to someone else. The Vinayamātṛkā states: this is permitted up to seven times. The formula says: 'May the Venerable One pay focused attention! I, bhikṣu so-and-so, have received the chanda and purity of bhikṣu so-and-so. For his person and for myself, I grant chanda and purity for the legal affairs of the saṃgha.' Stated once.
