Third, on the day of reciting the precepts, the sthavira announces it to the saṃgha to make it known. At present, the karmadāna strikes the sounding block and proclaims, saying: 'May the venerable saṃgha listen! Today, the fourteenth day of the dark fortnight, the assembled saṃgha harmoniously gathers at such-and-such a time in such-and-such a place for the upoṣadha recitation of the precepts.' The rest is as in the chapter on 'Saṃgha Regulations'.
