The fifty-ninth precept: taking an article genuinely made pure without asking. Four conditions: first, it is one's own article; second, genuine purification has been performed; third, not informing the owner; fourth, taking it constitutes the offense. The Prātimokṣa-sūtra lists the five groups [of monastics] in order to clarify the principles of offense and non-offense, explaining the characteristics in full. In the case of transferred purification, whether one asks or does not ask, both are permissible.
