Precept Seventy-six: Regretting having given consent (chanda). Four conditions: first, a legitimate karman; second, legitimately giving chanda; third, abruptly regretting and declaring it invalid; fourth, the offense is incurred upon completing the speech. The Sarvāstivāda-vinaya-vibhāṣā states: "If the saṃgha performs an unlawful karman, and one lacks the strength at the time to avert it and remains silent without reprimanding, and later says it was improper, there is no offense. If it was in accordance with the Dharma and Vinaya, it is a pāyattika. Disobeying a royal decree is a duṣkṛta."
