The Daśādhyāya-vinaya states: When he wishes to travel, he first reflects: “Can I reach the bhikṣu ahead now or not?” If he can reach him, he proceeds. The Pañcavargika-vinaya states: If he leaves the boundary without relinquishing the practice, upon seeing a bhikṣu he should announce collectively: “I, the bhikṣu so-and-so, have practiced parivāsa for such-and-such number of days, with such-and-such number of days remaining; may the Venerable keep this in mind!” Otherwise, having relinquished the practice, he need not announce upon seeing a bhikṣu; upon reaching another place, he should seek out that Saṃgha to resume the practice.
