Amidst the dense array of myriad conditions, what matter does not pertain to observance? If one is careless and fails to practice, one will suddenly incur hidden reprimand. Therefore, regarding every single matter, various admonitions must be raised; when admonitions are given, they must be practiced, which requires clear comprehension. If categorized according to their approaches, they are completely covered in the previous sections; when collected under distinct headings, they are distributed among the three divisions below. Because peripheral matters are manifold and disjointed, and miscellaneous affairs are tangled, these fragmented, scattered texts have been combined to form this distinct section. The various miscellaneous matters therein serve as the initial gate for guiding and regulating; if one is to cultivate the noble practices in full, it is proper to review them all; then, traveling through all regions, one will have no timidity.
