The next section: nuns kneel exclusively with both knees, while monks use both full kneeling and half-kneeling; as the Sūtra of Three Thousand Dignified Manners, the Yuanjue Sūtra, and others all say "kneel with both knees," how could it be only for nuns? (The old saying that kneeling with both knees signifies representing the nuns is erroneous.) As for the "distinct virtues," instructing nuns requires possessing ten virtues: 1. fully maintaining precept conduct; 2. being learned; 3. fluently reciting the Prātimokṣas of both divisions; 4. decisive without doubts; 5. skilled in preaching the Dharma; 6. gone forth from a good family; 7. handsome in appearance; 8. capable of preaching the Dharma to nuns to make them rejoice; 9. not having committed a heavy offense after going forth for the Buddha and donning the three robes; 10. having passed twenty summer retreats. (The eighth and tenth are restricted solely to instructing nuns, hence named distinct virtues; the rest are called common virtues.)
