延日中。律因諸比丘安居，精勤行道，得增上果；恐往餘處，不得是樂，白佛；因令作白，增益自恣。白云：大德僧聽！若僧時到僧忍聽，僧今不自恣，四月滿，當自恣，白如是。

Under 'Extending the days', the Vinaya states that because the bhikṣus observed the retreat, diligently practiced the path, and attained superior fruits, fearing that if they went elsewhere they would not obtain this joy, they announced it to the Buddha. Thereupon he had them make a motion to increase pravāraṇā. The motion states: 'May the venerable Saṅgha listen! If the Saṅgha's proper time has arrived and the Saṅgha consents, the Saṅgha will not perform pravāraṇā now; when four months are completed, it shall perform pravāraṇā. This is the motion.'
