引證中，初科，前約違順開章。比丘事者，通於眾別。言翻種者，戒為脫苦因，受反增故。種字去呼。苦業，即惡因也。但下，敘廣標略。言經論者，律在其中。一化者，始於成道，終至唱滅，中間教法，無不引之；故言一化，亦名一期。

In citing proofs, in the first section, the chapter is opened earlier in terms of violation and compliance. 'The affairs of a bhikṣu' applies to both the assembly and the individual. As for 'overturning the seeds', because the precepts are the cause for escaping suffering, receiving them [and violating them] conversely increases it. The character 'seed' (種) is pronounced in the falling tone (去聲). 'Painful karma' refers to evil causes. 'Only...' and following narrates the extensive and marks the brief. Saying 'sūtras and treatises' includes the vinaya within them. 'One dispensation' begins with attaining the path and ends with announcing extinction; none of the teachings in the interval are not cited; hence it is called 'one dispensation', also named 'one lifetime'.
